Frequently asked questions

What we get asked most.

Can't find your question? Write to us.

Who is Rumbo a Suiza for?

For bachelor's or master's students, people coming for an internship and skilled professionals who are moving to Switzerland or have just arrived, and who would rather have it explained in Spanish.

What do I have to do as soon as I arrive?

The most urgent things: register with the municipality (usually within 14 days), take out health insurance or apply for the exemption (3 months) and convert your driving licence (12 months). Take the test and you'll get your full list.

Do you help me find any kind of job?

We focus on skilled jobs: Swiss-format CV, job fairs and recruiters, and how to make the most of your university. We don't work with seasonal or unskilled jobs.

I'm a student, do I have to pay for Swiss health insurance?

Not always. If you already have valid insurance, you can apply for an exemption from compulsory insurance and pay nothing. We explain how in Insurance.

Why is arranging the insurance free?

Because we work with a partner insurance brokerage with more than 300 clients. They compare the insurers and find you the best price for your situation, and we take care of the paperwork. You pay nothing for the service. More in Insurance.

What are the calls like?

By video call or in person, whichever suits you best. There are 30-minute calls for a specific question and 1-hour meetings to go through your situation in depth. See the options in Pricing.

How much does the consultation cost?

The test and the mini-guide are free, as is arranging your insurance. The full guide costs CHF 200 and private calls start at CHF 45. All the details in Pricing.

What is the Betreibungsauszug and why do they ask me for it?

It's the certificate showing you have no debt enforcement proceedings against you in Switzerland. Almost every agency asks for it when you rent a flat. We explain how to get it in Housing.

Can I get a mobile plan without a residence permit?

Yes, there are options without a permit or with short contracts. We tell you which ones in Daily life.

How long can I drive with my foreign licence?

12 months from the day you settle in Switzerland. After that you need the Swiss licence, so it's best to convert it as soon as you arrive. We help you in Driving licence.
